A place for everything, and everything in its (stinkin') place!

Okay, I usually pride myself on being very organized. I'm pretty good at it. When I was a 9 to 5'er (back in the day), I used to get compliments on my organization. I don't know when it happened, or why... but look at this pile sitting on my dining room table at home:

I've been staring at this pile of papers, and a couple of piles identical to this one, for a few weeks now, unsure about how to approach this. Ugh. Yesterday I decided that it's time to do something drastic. Time to come up with a new Home Filing System! Yeah!

So I googled and googled until I found some really helpful information online. I wanted to know what to keep, what to throw away, what to file in the attic, etc... Well, I came across some kewl sites that totally helped me out with my mission. If you are interested, they are:

Family Records
FCIC
Organizting Household Records

These sites were answers to my prayers. So I proceeded to print out each article and I went to work setting up my new system. At about 2am, this is what I had done so far (nothing fancy, but definitely a start):

Now, I've just got to get the papers INTO the system. It will take some time, but I'm determined. My goal is to have my new Home Filing System up and running and up to date by June 30th. I'll let you know how it goes.

Here is the Real Simple "Daily Thought" for June 3, 2005 (yesterday); I liked it so much, I thought I'd share:

"Any activity becomes creative when the doer cares about doing it right, or doing it better. "
— John Updike

Love that. I'm off to get creative. Have a great weekend!

Yum.

Is It Summer Yet?

Today was a Good Day! (Love that song!)

Yes, today was a very good day! First off, it's Friday; that's a no-brainer. Definitely a good thing. Then, my husband was at home for most of the day and I found out he's off work for the next 5 days. Great! And best of all, this evening I got to scrapbook with some other ladies from the Moms of Multiples group (luv, luv, luv those ladies)! The only bummer was that it was a very short crop session. I'm used to "all-day" crops and this one was only 4 hours or so. Oh well. I still got 3 pages "somewhat" done and that's more than I've completed in quite a while. I'm going to bed a happy girl tonight. I'm hoping that this long holiday weekend will be a great one as well. We plan to paint more rooms in the house in the next coming days. The loft and my scrapbooking room for starters. I can't wait! I love using my creativity and getting to be artsy-fartsy while making my home look nice!!!
